International Women’s Day in Savona: “Women Without Borders: Five Stories of Mothers at School”

The project tells the stories of five women attending CPIA classes with the aim of creating new personal and professional opportunities.

In Savona, International Women’s Day will be an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of mothers who, overcoming numerous difficulties, have chosen to return to school to improve their future. On Friday 6 March, at 4:30 pm, in the Meeting Point Room of the Il Gabbiano Shopping Centre, the Coop Liguria Members Section of Savona, in collaboration with CPIA – “M. Dansoko” Permanent Adult Education Centre, will present the video story entitled “Women Without Borders: Five Stories of Mothers at School”.

“Women Without Borders” tells the stories of five women attending CPIA classes with the aim of creating new personal and professional opportunities. Among them is a Coop Liguria employee who took part in the project by sharing her testimony. At the end of the screening, teachers Enrico Piazza and Nicola Bina, director Mimmo Lombezzi, and the video’s protagonists will speak, sharing their stories of growth and change.

Among the women involved, two are political refugees from Ukraine, Olena Strotska and Nataliia Horhyladze, who fled a country affected by conflict. Rachida Afhim, a nurse who emigrated from Morocco, left her family in search of better economic conditions. Faith Ogala, in addition to sharing her journey, addressed issues related to plastic pollution. Finally, Rosalba Loddo, an employee of Ipercoop Il Gabbiano, shared her experience of returning to studies after having interrupted them at a young age.

“I enrolled at CPIA to obtain the credits needed to resume my studies in surveying,” Loddo explained. “I gladly took part in the ‘Women Without Borders’ project, based on my story and those of other courageous women. I brought my experiences before the camera, filled with sacrifices and a determination to turn a difficult situation around.” For her, the school experience also proved to be a source of personal fulfilment: “I was involved in the ‘Enrico Bonino’ literary competition, where I won second place with a poem. It was a huge satisfaction for someone like me who had left school.” Loddo also thanked some colleagues from Coop Liguria for the support she received throughout the journey.

The event is open to the public without the need for a reservation and will conclude with a social gathering. The initiative aims to provide a space for sharing and celebrating the stories of women who, through study and determination, face daily challenges to improve their circumstances.
