Economy / Agriculture | The Italian Confederation of Farmers (CIA) of Savona has renewed its provincial leadership during the 9th Electoral Assembly held on Friday at the San Carlo Auditorium in Albenga. Sandro Gagliolo was confirmed as provincial president, while Gianluigi Nario retains the role of provincial director of the Savona section of the organisation.
Among the news from the assembly was the appointment of Nicola Piccardo, born in ’93, a young olive grower and agritourism entrepreneur, as vice president of CIA Savona. At the same time, Giulia Dell’Erba was appointed as provincial president of Agia, the group dedicated to young farmers affiliated with the confederation.
The meeting featured several speeches, including one by the regional president Stefano Roggerone, who addressed issues related to the challenges facing the agricultural sector in the regional context. «To be a farmer today – Roggerone stated – you need to be very, very well prepared; you need to be trained, and in my opinion, also have an appropriate qualification because both the tools you need to use – for example, IT tools – and all the bureaucracy, knowledge, and, as experts say, the ‘know-how’ must be something truly important for young people. We cannot just improvise as farmers.»
Commenting on his re-election, Director Nario emphasised the value of the trust placed in him: “I thank President Sandro Gagliolo, Vice-President Nicola Piccardo, and the Executive Committee of CIA Savona for their contribution to strengthening the organisation, improving services, and consolidating its role as a point of reference for members and the local area.” He also highlighted that the goal is “to continue a path of growth and innovation, strengthening the ability to respond to the sector’s needs, consolidating the results achieved, and facing the future challenges awaiting the agricultural community and its production chains.”
The assembly represents a moment to define the directions for the CIA of Savona, with particular attention to the role of young farmers and the need to update services and strategies in an evolving sector.
