The Department of Public Education has organized a meeting for families utilizing the school canteen service. This gathering will focus on the themes of food waste and recovery, scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the School on Via Trilussa in Borghetto S. Spirito.

Throughout the afternoon, experts from Cirfood, the company managing the school canteen, will share their expertise. This initiative is part of the municipality’s efforts to enhance awareness of environmental sustainability and circular economy, aligning with the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

During the event, participants will receive the “Help Us Reduce Waste” bag, allowing students to take home uneaten bread, fruit, or snacks to utilize later.

This event will also serve as an opportunity to showcase some new features of the dining service introduced in the current school year. Among these are the apps Clear Menu and Food And Fun, designed to promote healthier eating habits, provide advice from expert nutritionists, and share information about the origin of ingredients, as well as reduce waste through educational games for children.

“The significance of healthy eating and combating food waste is an achievable goal, even through initiatives like this,” stated a representative, emphasizing the importance of adopting proper dietary habits, avoiding waste, and trying to recover uneaten food.
