Alassino d'oro

The Municipal Giunta (executive cabinet) of Alassio has sanctioned the resolution of the Evaluation Committee for the awarding of the Alassino d’Oro 2024. The committee, comprising former mayors of the city and chaired by the current mayor Marco Melgrati, has chosen Professor Alberto Beniscelli as the recipient of this honor, the highest accolade bestowed upon distinguished citizens of Alassio.

Professor Beniscelli was selected for his outstanding cultural stature, an impressive academic career, and a series of significant literary publications. He has also been recognized for preserving his grandfather’s painter’s studio as a historical venue open to the community.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, at the Parish Hall of the Ancient Collegiate Church of Sant’Ambrogio, following the Pontifical Mass at 4 PM, presided over by Monsignor Guglielmo Borghetti. During the event, the Alassino d’Oro will also be posthumously awarded to Simone Rossi, a former Tourism and Sports Assessore who tragically passed away in an avalanche. Melgrati stated that this posthumous recognition serves as a token of gratitude for the “service to the City” Rossi demonstrated throughout his life, contributing to the common good and actively participating in the community.

The mayor also expressed satisfaction with the award being granted to Professor Beniscelli, acknowledging his academic dedication and contribution to the cultural life of Alassio. The celebrations for the feast of Sant’Ambrogio will conclude with a concert at 8:45 PM in the Collegiate Church, featuring a performance by the Gospel Choir “Double Trust Choir”.
