Once upon a time, in a distant and enchanting land called Liguria, there was a magical landscape of green hills diving into the blue sea. In this enchanted place lived the Dry Stone Walls, little stone giants with a very special task.
The Dry Stone Walls were built many, many years ago by the farmers of Liguria. They were indispensable friends of the plants, creating cozy beds for vines, olives, and many other Mediterranean plants. And do you know their secret? They didn’t need glue to hold together! The stones hugged tightly, fitting carefully, and thus remained stable and secure over time.
Each stone had a story to tell, passed down from generation to generation by the wise farmers, who taught their children the art of building these magical walls. Thanks to the Dry Stone Walls, the land didn’t slide down the terraces, and water always found its way to nourish the plants.
One day, extraordinary news reached our stone friends: UNESCO, the guardian of the world’s wonders, had recognized them as a precious treasure to protect and cherish. And so, the Dry Stone Walls became famous all over the world!

However, as time went by, some farmers moved away, and the walls began to feel lonely and a bit neglected. But they were not forgotten! The people of Liguria, along with many friends, began to take care of them, organizing festivals, courses, and workshops to teach everyone how to build and maintain the Dry Stone Walls.
And so, thanks to the love and dedication of many kind hearts, the Dry Stone Walls continued to tell the story of an ingenious people who, with patience and devotion, knew how to transform nature into an enchanted garden. And they lived happily ever after, protecting the hills of Liguria forever.
