Unsettled Weather and Thunderstorms Forecast for Liguria Midweek

On Tuesday 19 August, weather forecasts for Liguria, based on bulletins issued by Arpal and the Civil Protection Department, indicate variable conditions. During the morning, scattered clouds are expected, particularly in the Central-Eastern areas, while the western part of the region will experience mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies. Isolated thunderstorms may develop in the early afternoon over the Ligurian Alps and the Central-Western Apennines, moving quickly towards Piedmont. Winds will generally be light, coming from the south, with some strengthening in the afternoon from the south-west on exposed western capes. The sea is expected to be calm. The Civil Protection Department highlights warm conditions, with minimum temperatures remaining stable or rising slightly and maximum temperatures decreasing. On Wednesday 20 August, the weather is expected to deteriorate, especially in the Central-Eastern areas, where a “decidedly unstable” day is forecast with scattered and intermittent showers and thunderstorms throughout the morning and afternoon, becoming widespread in the evening. These events could be intense and accompanied by very heavy rainfall. Winds will blow moderately from the scirocco on the Central-Eastern coast, while remaining weak in the west, with a tendency to shift in a cyclonic direction during the evening. The sea will range from calm to rough, becoming very rough in the evening along the eastern coast. The Civil Protection Department notes the presence of thunderstorms, with minimum temperatures holding steady or rising slightly and maximum temperatures falling. Humidity will stay at elevated levels.
