Under the leadership of Adriano Amici, GS Emilia will oversee the organization of the 62nd edition of the Trofeo Laigueglia. This race, traditionally marking the start of the cycling season in Italy, is scheduled for Wednesday, 5 March 2025. Recently, the municipality of Laigueglia finalized an agreement with the Emilia-based sports group to manage this inaugural event of the professional cycling season.
Adriano Amici, head of GS Emilia, expressed his satisfaction, stating it is “a welcome return to Laigueglia after a two-year hiatus” for their team. He emphasized that “the 2025 event promises participation from numerous top-tier teams, ensuring an exciting race.”
The mayor of Laigueglia, Giorgio Manfredi, also shared his enthusiasm. He remarked that the Trofeo Laigueglia is “a premier event for our village, not only due to the participation of nationally and internationally renowned cyclists but also for its high-profile image boost.” The municipal administration has entrusted the technical organization of the event to a team of highly skilled professionals who work year-round to bring this race to life.
The 62nd edition of the race serves as a crucial test ahead of the major cycling classics such as the Milan-Sanremo. The Cyclists’ Wall, a collection of tiles initiated by Bruno Zanoni, features the signatures of all the winners of the Laigueglia Trophy and renowned champions who have competed in the coastal village. Among these are notable names like Ballan, Pozzato, Merckx, Armstrong, and Nibali.
The most recent edition was claimed by the French cyclist Lenny Martinez from Groupama Fdj, who broke away from his fellow escapees in the final kilometres. For the 2025 edition, another thrilling competition is anticipated against the stunning backdrop of Laigueglia’s azure sea and lush hinterland.
