A significant conference took place at Palazzo Tagliaferro titled “Prevention of Gender-Based Violence – Daily Strategies”. This event brought together experts, local political representatives, social policy officials, educators, psychologists from the Zonta Club, and law enforcement, including the Local Police, the Carabinieri, and the Air Force. The primary focus was the prevention of gender-based violence.

Psychologist Gabriella Marano, a consultant for the Cecchettin family, provided an analysis of the various forms of gender-based violence, highlighting how they affect both women and minors. She delved into the socio-cultural and familial causes, emphasizing that even socially integrated individuals can perpetrate violence. “These are men and young people socially integrated but with personality dysfunctions,” she stated, underscoring the need for economic resources for social services and the importance of preventive action.

The conference underscored the collaboration between schools, public institutions, and associations. In particular, the Zonta Club Alassio – Albenga supports the Andora project, aimed at providing growth tools for young generations. As stated by the Councillor for Social Policies Monica Risso, “Prevention and the culture of respect, regardless of gender, have emerged as the central themes in the journey we must all undertake together.”

Students from the Andora-Laigueglia Comprehensive Institute participated actively, demonstrating a willingness to engage and sensitivity in their interactions. Teachers, on their part, are requesting tools to identify potential challenges faced by the students. The project aspires to nurture well-balanced adults, capable of navigating the complexities of emotional life.

Maria Grazia Timo, president of the Zonta Club Alassio-Albenga, reaffirmed her commitment to the project and highlighted the challenges of emotional relationships in our generation. Mattia Poggio, head of the Social Policies Department of the Municipality of Andora, emphasized that the organization has already initiated an operational protocol for managing child abuse and maltreatment. Among the signatories are the Andora/Laigueglia Comprehensive Institute and local law enforcement.

During a morning workshop, third-year middle school students in Andora collaborated with Zonta psychologists, reflecting on words that hurt and those that bring joy, expressing their feelings through drawings. Dr. Cavanna noted that many students concluded the session by asking, “When will we meet again? Today, we were together with our classmates in a different way.”
