The Corriere Mercantile marked its 200-year legacy at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa. Established in 1824, the newspaper has been a cornerstone for economic news in Liguria. During the ceremony, the president of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, emphasized the significance of preserving this institution’s legacy: “It is truly a pleasure to participate in the celebrations honoring the 200th anniversary of the Corriere Mercantile.”
Throughout the day, a special illustrated magazine was unveiled for the occasion. This volume, described as an “extraordinary edition,” provides a retrospective on the newspaper’s history through essays and articles by legendary contributors of the Mercantile. The project was overseen by journalists Franco Manzitti and Roberto Orlando and published by the Fondazione De Ferrari ETS.
The Genoa Chamber of Commerce played a significant role in the event by showcasing bound volumes containing historical copies of the newspaper, spanning from the 19th century to the 2000s. President Bucci wrapped up his speech by expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the newspaper’s legacy, stating: “Today, we wish to celebrate its history and thank all those who have been part of its journey, journalists who succeeded in making the Corriere Mercantile an authoritative and unforgettable voice.”
