In Savona, following a meeting with the Regional Wildlife and Environmental Surveillance, Mayor Marco Russo has issued an ordinance to address the increasing issue of wild boars in urban areas. The meeting highlighted how the phenomenon is on the rise, especially after Savona’s exit from the red zone of swine fever, leading to a growth in the number of these animals and consequently posing a threat to public safety.

The ordinance emphasizes the “absolute prohibition of feeding wild animals, particularly wild boars.” It also urges the Regional Guards of the Surveillance Unit to operate lawfully to “remove Sus scrofa individuals accustomed to foraging in urban areas.” Operations must be conducted using the most effective and safe methods, considering the need to ensure the safety of involved persons and the protection of properties.
