The Luca Ferrari Port of Alassio is making a significant shift towards renewable energy, aiming for a more sustainable future. Having been awarded the Blue Flag from Fee for 19 consecutive years, the port is implementing an innovative project in partnership with the Municipal Administration of Alassio and the Board of Marina di Alassio, led by Rinaldo Agostini, with Marino Agnese as the general manager. The goal is to harness solar energy to power a substantial part of the marina. “The designated area for this groundbreaking project at our port,” explains Agostini, “is the new dock near the fishermen’s quay.” Here, a parking cover will be constructed, serving a dual purpose: to shield vehicles and to host photovoltaic panels for generating clean energy.
This initiative is one of many operations planned in the port’s development projects, overseen by Marina di Alassio, a company entirely controlled by the municipality. Among the initial undertakings is the installation of smart barriers at the port entrance, a computerized system that facilitates access for boaters. Over the next three years, there will also be an enhancement of the electrical network on the breakwater, improving energy distribution to large yachts, as Agostini has anticipated.
Despite the winter season, the port remains operational 24 hours a day, thanks to the dedication of its 11 employees, including 8 mooring staff and 2 administrative employees, under the supervision of Marino Agnese. Patrizia Mordente, the Assessor for Municipally Owned Companies in Alassio, expresses satisfaction with the progress of Marina di Alassio: “As a Municipal Administration extremely focused on technological efficiency, environmental sustainability, and innovation, we are truly pleased with the path Marina di Alassio is taking in this regard, reaffirming the excellence it has been recognized for over 19 years with the prestigious Blue Flag award. A heartfelt thank you to President Rinaldo Agostini, Director Marino Agnese, and their collaborators for their constant dedication.”
