Christmas tree lighting and light trail along the seaside promenade in Andora

Natale ad Andora

The Christmas tree in Andora, standing at 18 meters and visible from the Via Aurelia, was illuminated yesterday. The event featured a concert by 300 children from the primary schools of the Andora-Laigueglia Comprehensive Institute, conducted by maestro Alberto Garassino. The tree marks the beginning of a luminous path that spans the entire seaside promenade, passing through the Thor Heyerdahl pier and culminating in a large Christmas ornament near the sea, with lights decorating the palm trees all the way to the port. The pedestrian area of Via Roma is also adorned with a wave of lights. The concert also marked the inauguration of the festive lights throughout the municipality.

The Christmas path will be further enriched on 12th December at 5:15 pm with the opening of the Christmas light village, created in collaboration with the Andora Pro Loco. Shortly after, at 5:45 pm, the Nativity scene house on the Thor Heyerdahl pier will be opened. This display was crafted by the Creative Sewing Group of the Molino Nuovo Municipal Social Centre.

Mayor Mauro Demichelis expressed his appreciation for the event: “Our children have done a wonderful job, enchanting us with an emotional concert once again this year. A magical moment, shared with families, that warms the heart and reminds us of the values of brotherhood, as highlighted by Father Stefano’s blessing.” The mayor thanked everyone involved in the event, including the teachers, maestro Garassino, municipal staff and workers, safety officers, and the company involved. He also extended a special thanks to families and the Parents’ Committee for their support.

This afternoon, Andora will host the Santa Claus Run in Pink, a charity walk to raise funds for the AIRC Foundation for breast cancer research. The meeting point is at 2:30 pm in Piazza Santa Maria, where shirts will be distributed. This will be followed by a lecture from Dr Serena Ziliani, an oncology specialist, in the Don Rinaldo hall of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
