On Friday evening, the City Council of Andora approved the Guidelines for the administration’s program led by Mauro Demichelis, slated for implementation during the 2024-2029 term. All members of the Giunta, including Deputy Mayor Daniele Martino and the assessori (executive cabinet members) Monica Risso, Ilario Simonetta, and Alexandra Allegri, presented the local government’s upcoming priorities.
After significant investments in safeguarding the territory, such as securing public buildings, watercourses, and the coastline, attention now shifts to completing ongoing major projects, like the cycling path and the revitalization of Borgo Castello, along with launching new initiatives and enhancing essential services.
Mayor Demichelis stated, “Our aim has always been to enhance all of Andora, without distinction between the center, agricultural plains, and the hinterland.” He emphasized the progress made in securing the territory and the importance of ongoing projects, such as the marina and the regeneration of the former Ariston complex. “In the past decade, we have invested millions of euros in securing streams and waterways,” he added, announcing forthcoming initiatives in the Commerce Plan.
The report reaffirmed the commitment to avoid increasing local taxes, ensuring the continuity of established services such as the summer solar camp and the municipal nursery, while enhancing support for families and the elderly. Special focus is placed on the youth, with projects in partnership with schools.
The Majority is dedicated to supporting local associations, providing free access to sports facilities, organizing high-level sports events, designing a multifunctional sports center, and constructing a roof for the soccer field stands. There are plans to enhance video surveillance and introduce a digital system for paying fines through PagoPA. Lighting around the Thor Heyerdahl pier will be initiated to enable nighttime water sports. The goal is to extend tourist visits beyond the traditional seasons.
The enhancement of healthcare services at the Municipal Pharmacy has been announced. In terms of culture, scholarships and agreements with Italian universities will support deserving students. Efforts are underway to establish a civil service within the municipality.
The enhancement of the waste collection service is anticipated. The guidelines ensure a consistent boost to minor maintenance, mowing, and public lighting. Cemetery upkeep will continue, with new ossuaries planned, and efforts will be made to earn the Blue Flag for the coastline.
Mayor Demichelis expressed the intention to engage in dialogue with Acea, the new partner of Rivieracqua, to complete ongoing projects and ensure water supply, protecting citizens affected by payment reminders for bills issued following the distribution of contaminated water.
