Forty days into the flu prevention campaign, launched on October 14th, Liguria has already seen 235,373 people vaccinated. The figures are broken down by healthcare areas: 12,174 in Asl1, 44,745 in Asl2, 124,721 in Asl3, 21,438 in Asl4, and 32,295 in Asl5. Most vaccinations, 69%, have been administered by General Practitioners, while 18% were given by pharmacists, 7% by free-choice pediatricians, and the remaining 6% by ASL and other providers. Compared to the same period last year, 20,000 more doses have already been administered.
Massimo Nicolò, the Regional Health Assessore of Liguria, emphasizes that “the initial response from the Ligurian population has been very positive” and encourages citizens to continue preventive measures, especially as colder months approach. Getting vaccinated protects oneself and defends the more vulnerable, such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, while also helping to reduce Emergency Room visits. The region is also organizing a plan to strengthen territorial healthcare, with centers open during holidays to manage the flu peak.
In Liguria, extraordinary vaccination campaigns are ongoing. Besides receiving vaccinations at ASL clinics, pharmacies, and through trusted doctors, in Asl 4, vaccinations will also be available at the Red Cross headquarters in Moconesi and on December 19th at the Health Point in Cicagna, thanks to Asl4’s mobile flu campaign. In Asl2, an Open Day is scheduled for December 23rd from 9 am to 2 pm, which will also include Covid vaccinations.
