Police Boost Weekend Patrols Along Riviera di Ponente to Ensure Safety and Order

Police conduct checks along Riviera di Ponente, targeting tourists, drug possession, illegal taxis, and traffic violations for safety.

Police patrols continue along the Riviera di Ponente, focusing on monitoring tourist flows to the beaches to prevent illegal camping and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Over the past weekend, the Alassio Police Station, supported by the Albenga Railway Police, carried out a series of special operations at the train station and along the coastline. The drug detection dog unit from the Genoa Police Headquarters also took part in the activities.

Thanks to the assistance of the State Police’s canine unit, ten individuals were stopped in Alassio on Saturday at the train station and on the seafront, found in possession of drugs, and subsequently reported to the Prefecture for personal use. Several doses of narcotics were seized during the checks.

Additionally, on Sunday night in Alassio, officers from the local Police Station fined a person operating as an unlicensed taxi driver near the railway station, confiscating both their driving licence and vehicle registration documents.

Extraordinary checks were also conducted in Savona, particularly around motorway toll booths and the railway station. These operations involved the Savona Police Headquarters, the Railway Police, the Traffic Police, and a canine unit from the Financial Police.

Two tourist coaches from Piedmont and Lombardy, carrying weekend visitors heading to coastal resorts, were penalised by the Traffic Police for exceeding the permitted number of passengers. On Sunday alone, seven penalties were issued for road code violations.

Between Saturday and Sunday, authorities identified a total of 245 individuals, inspected numerous vehicles, and checked five coaches.

This coordinated effort by law enforcement forms part of a broader strategy to maintain public safety and order, aiming to ensure a secure environment for both residents and visitors throughout the summer.

Operations are set to continue in the coming weekends, maintaining a constant presence in high-traffic areas.
