The new permanent stage in Piazza del Popolo is a significant addition to the city of Albenga, ready to host local musical groups during its inauguration scheduled for Saturday, December 7, starting at 5:00 PM.
The Council President, Alberto Passino, emphasized that “the creation of a permanent stage in Piazza del Popolo is part of a project initiated when he was the public works commissioner.” This ambitious plan includes not only the stage but also a complete revamping of the area, with improvements to the service roads, the construction of modern canopies for the local market, the demolition of the former Sati bar, and the installation of public restrooms accessible to individuals with disabilities. Passino expressed satisfaction with the inauguration of this significant portion of the project, which has overcome various bureaucratic hurdles.
The mayor, Riccardo Tomatis, highlighted that the new structure, with its “open, bright, and accessible spaces,” will provide a permanent stage for numerous events, thereby reducing costs and efforts associated with assembling and dismantling temporary setups. Additionally, this solution will enhance the safety of the square by eliminating the shadowy areas that were often poorly frequented.
The stage inauguration will be an opportunity to bring the Albenga community together. The tourism assessore, Camilla Vio, stated that “the inauguration of the new stage in Piazza del Popolo is a significant opportunity for the Albenga community to gather and celebrate the new structure together.” This initiative aims to enhance the new public space and promote local culture, with a substantial promotional and media impact. During the event on Saturday, December 7, various musical groups from Albenga will perform on the stage.
