Enrollment is now open for the 37th “Città di Albenga-Memorial M. S. Folco” Piano Competition, featuring exciting new elements this year. The event will take place from January 3rd to 5th, enlivening the holiday season and highlighting the week following New Year’s Day.

The jury, renowned for its excellence, is led by maestro Eugenio De Rosa, a pianist with extensive professional experience and an acclaimed international career. Other esteemed members include Isabella Lo Porto, a professor at the Verona Conservatory, who trained under the renowned Laura Palmieri and has a longstanding association with the Albenga competition. Giampaolo Nuti, an internationally celebrated concert performer and professor at the Florence Conservatory, studied with Franco Scala. Emanuele Torquati from the Genoa Conservatory frequently performs in America and Europe, boasting numerous recordings and masterclass participations. Lastly, Maria Vacca, known for her educational method “Musigatto,” has published several volumes used in music schools and conservatories both in Italy and internationally.

A significant event recently honored the piano competition: the selection of a pianist, chosen by the artistic direction, to perform in a broadcast event by RAI to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Italian Radio and Television. Artistic Director Isabella Vasile remarked, “We never expected that, with so many competitions in Italy, RAI would choose ours for such a prestigious event. This recognition enhances our competition’s reputation as one of the highest caliber, known for its transparency and fairness in results, qualities that ensure excellence. It is likely due to these attributes that RAI selected the Albenga competition.” For more information on the rules and registration, visit www.concorsopianisticoalbenga.it.
