Today, the new regional government of Liguria, led by President Marco Bucci, was introduced. While the administration will begin its operations tomorrow, the official formalization will take place in the Regional Council within ten days of the first assembly of the new legislature, scheduled for November 26. Bucci expressed satisfaction with the swift formation of the government, stating, “We aimed to present the new team quickly and achieved that goal… now we embark on work that will take us to 2029, confident in reaching the significant objectives we have set for the people of Liguria and the region itself.”
The composition of the government has been disclosed, with each member assigned specific portfolios. Bucci will retain oversight of Finance and Budget, European Funds, digital transition, and other key areas. Alessandro Piana will continue as vice president, with portfolios covering agriculture and promotion of Ligurian products. Simona Ferro, a lawyer by profession, will handle the portfolios related to culture, sports, and employment policies. Giacomo Giampedrone will manage Civil Protection and infrastructure.
In the tourism sector, Luca Lombardi will lead, while Massimo Nicolò will focus on health and social care. Paolo Ripamonti will oversee security and energy, and Marco Scajola will manage transportation and urban planning.
Regarding healthcare, Bucci announced the establishment of the Superior Health Council of Liguria to support the health minister Nicolò, emphasizing the importance of “mobilizing a powerful force with contributions from the region’s top health experts.” The portfolios for economic development, industry, and blue economy will initially be managed by Bucci, with plans to delegate them to councilor Alessio Piana in the coming days.
In addition to Health Minister Massimo Nicolò, several key advisors will join the team. Among them are Enrico Castanini, general director of Liguria Digitale, and Angelo Gratarola, former health minister (assessore) in the previous legislature and former director of the Emergency Department at San Martino Hospital in Genoa. Gratarola is also a member of the AIFA Superior Council. Luciano Grasso, former general director of ASL 3 Genovese, and Santiago Vacca, responsible for the economic-administrative sector, complete the advisory team.
Supporting these roles is the Higher Health Council, led by Prof. Matteo Bassetti and consisting of a team of 13 experts: six women and seven men, serving in an advisory and unpaid capacity.
Among these, Dr. Salvatore Alongi serves as the director of the social-health district of ASL 4, and Dr. Eleonora Arboscello is the head of Emergency Medicine at Policlinico San Martino. Dr. Giada Bardelli works as a General Practitioner at ASL 5, while Prof. Lucia Del Mastro is a full professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Genoa and leads the Medical Oncology Clinic at San Martino.
Dr. Sergio Ferraro is the head of the complex structure of orthopedics and traumatology at ASL 1 Imperiese. Dr. Alessandro Gastaldo leads the complex structure of Radiology and Interventional Diagnostics at ASL 2 Savonese. Dr. Annamaria Gatti supervises the internal medicine complex structure at Villa Scassi Hospital.
Among the specialists, Dr. Tiziana Lazzari excels in dermatology and cosmetic surgery, while Dr. Luigi Martinelli is a cardiac surgeon at the GVM Group in Rapallo. Dr. Claudio Mazzola, former director of the complex structure of Orthopedics at Galliera Hospital, and Prof. Italo Porto, a professor of cardiovascular diseases at the University of Genoa, complete the list.
Finally, Dr. Antonello Ranise is the director of cardiology at ASL 1 Imperiese, and Dr. Barbara Rebesco oversees the DIAR Pharmaceutical and is responsible for regional Pharmacovigilance.
