Today in the Regional Council, the President of the Region Liguria, Marco Bucci, introduced the government programme for the 12th legislature after presenting the Executive cabinet (Giunta). For President Bucci, infrastructure, healthcare, and employment are priorities for Liguria, keeping the environment in consideration. The focus is on boosting employment with the arrival of new companies, such as the Fincantieri super basin project, which will create numerous job opportunities. The government programme, similar to the electoral agenda, aims to enhance the quality of life in Liguria, making it an ideal place to live and work. The region pursues sustainable growth following the ESG principle (Environmental Social Growth) and will support development projects. The programme is based on listening to local needs and will adapt to emerging demands, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable. Experience in public management in Genoa will be crucial in continuing on this path.
“Infrastructure, healthcare, and employment. These are the main themes, the priorities for Liguria’s future. Naturally, all of this while keeping the environmental theme in mind, which must not be compromised. Regarding employment, we want growth driven by the arrival of new companies, providing opportunities for all citizens to find a job, including those from outside who wish to work here. For instance, the new Fincantieri super basin alone will produce hundreds of jobs: we must channel and facilitate all opportunities from this perspective, as they are absolutely strategic,” Bucci stated.
“I want to preface with a consideration: the government programme largely coincides with what was already presented to citizens during the electoral campaign. Some additions have been made, but the essence remains the same. On the other hand, it would be not only inappropriate but also incorrect to present a different programme from what was proposed to the electorate. I assert this as an extremely positive fact,” Bucci added.
“Our goal is to improve the quality of life for the people of Liguria. Liguria should become the ideal place to live, work, study, and spend leisure time: it may seem like a concept we’ve repeated many times, but it truly is the core of what we aim to achieve. Waking up in the morning and thinking about what we can do for Liguria: this is what we do every day, and I believe in it, firmly, with both heart and mind, because with these premises, working for the citizens’ benefit, we can accomplish significant things and have the energy to achieve our goals. We are not here to pursue political battles and are ready to work together; this must be clear to everyone.”

“We want a Liguria projected towards growth, social, economic, and environmental growth,” he clarified. “We must remember that today sustainable growth is defined according to the ESG principle, meaning environmental social growth: we must grow while respecting the environment and in a way that all societal sectors can benefit. This is an absolutely necessary mantra: governing with this vision is not easy, but as we have already demonstrated, it is entirely possible, and we will find solutions in the face of difficulties.”
“We will say yes to all projects contributing to growth,” he added. “We are open to everything that can aid the development of our region, regardless of who proposes them. We have shown our capability in doing many things and doing them well: the world witnessed the reconstruction of the Genoa San Giorgio Bridge, showcasing the expertise of the Ligurians. We want to demonstrate this efficiency in all future endeavours.”
“The government programme for Liguria has concrete and verifiable objectives derived from listening to the territory, data analysis, and the experience of those who manage public affairs daily, and it is a programme that can evolve according to the needs that will emerge in our ever-fast and changing reality, and rightly so,” he concluded. “If improvements can be made, it is necessary to correct the course, this is a fundamental concept for us. We want a Liguria oriented towards the future, development that provides guarantees for everyone, especially the most vulnerable, with an attention to the weakest that we have demonstrated concretely in these seven years leading the Municipality of Genoa: we will continue to do so for a Region that looks forward and leaves no one behind.”
